Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise the browser on a later request. This page lists what Hanime uses them for and how to switch them off.
1. Cookies this site sets
- Session cookie. Identifies your browsing session so the site can keep short-lived state between pages. Expires when the session ends.
- CSRF token. A security cookie that protects form submissions, such as the contact form, against cross-site request forgery.
- Age confirmation. Records that you confirmed you are over 18, so the notice is not shown on every visit. Kept for 90 days.
- Display preferences. Remembers choices such as the English or Japanese title toggle.
These are strictly necessary or functional. Without them the site cannot work correctly, so they cannot be turned off from within the site itself.
2. Cookies set by others
Analytics and advertising providers used on the site may set their own cookies or use similar identifiers. We do not control these, and their contents are governed by each provider's own policy. They are generally used for:
- measuring aggregate traffic and which pages are popular;
- limiting how often the same advert is shown to you;
- measuring whether an advert led to a visit.
3. Turning cookies off
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings then Privacy. You can block third-party cookies while keeping first-party ones, which stops most advertising and analytics tracking while leaving the site usable.
Blocking all cookies will break parts of the site: the age notice will reappear on every page, and the contact form will stop accepting submissions.
Browsers also offer Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Support for these varies between the third parties above, and we cannot guarantee that every one of them honours the signal.
4. Changes
This list changes when the site changes. The date at the top shows the last revision.
