Kotowari - Season 1

As a child, Mishiro lost half his soul to a toothed deity. As a consequence, he is now able to perceive entities known as kotowari, which dwell within the inner darkness of anyone connected to him, even distantly. These kotowari are fragments of a person's soul, formed from personal suffering, and are typically invisible and intangible to all except the individual who spawned them. Destroying a kotowari is a temporary solution, as it will continually reappear until the root cause of the suffering is addressed. After moving to a historic tourist town and transferring schools, Mishiro comes across one such entity. He resolves to locate its human source. He soon discovers this is not an isolated case, as numerous other young women in the area are also harboring their own painful kotowari.
