Ooedo Forty Eight - Season 1

The narrative is set in Ooedo-period Japan, during the emergence of geishas and pleasure quarters. With limited prospects for advantageous marriage, daughters from impoverished rural families often saw relocation to the affluent city of Ooedo as their sole means of advancement. There, they could enter service or train as geishas, potentially becoming the mistresses of wealthy feudal lords. The young and destitute Oshizu elects to follow this course.
